We do not run ads, we do not sell anything, and we do not track you across the web. There is no account to make and nothing to log in to. Below is everything that actually happens, in plain language.
What we collect ourselves
Counts, not people. We use Google Analytics to see how many visitors arrive, which pages get read, and roughly which country they come from. There is no account here and nothing to log in to, and we never try to work out who any individual reader is.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell a returning visit from a new one, and Google receives that data under their privacy policy. We have switched off Google’s advertising features, so nothing collected here feeds an ad profile of you, and we ask Google to shorten your IP address before storing it. The data is deleted after 14 months.
We bother because we run on donated money, and knowing which explainers people actually read is how we decide what to make next. If you would rather not be counted, most ad blockers stop Google Analytics from loading — nothing on this site breaks without it.
The newsletter box
The subscribe box on our pages is a form provided by Substack, embedded so that you never have to leave this site. When you submit it, your email address goes to Substack, who send the newsletter on our behalf and handle that address under their own privacy policy. We can see the subscriber list. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and it works.
Donations
Donations are handled by Zeffy, on Zeffy’s own site. We never see or store card numbers. We do see what a donor chooses to give us — usually a name, an email and an amount — so that we can say thank you and issue a receipt. Zeffy’s handling is covered by their privacy policy.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare records the requests it serves — including IP addresses — to keep the site up and to stop abuse. We do not use those logs to identify readers.
Typefaces
Our fonts load from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers and Google sees your IP address — the same as on a large share of the web. We mention it because it is the one thing on this page that happens without you doing anything, and we would rather you heard it from us.
When you email us
info@twfrogcast.org runs on Google Workspace. We keep what you send so that we can reply and, where it matters, keep the record behind a correction. We do not add you to the newsletter because you emailed us.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We do not run advertising trackers or fingerprinting scripts. We do not share the subscriber list with anyone.
Asking us about your data
Write to info@twfrogcast.org and ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You do not need to give a reason and you will not be asked for one. We are a small team, so allow us a few days.
Changes to this page
Last updated: 1 September 2026. When we change how any of this works we change this page and move that date — the same way we handle corrections.
